A learning opportunity from another driver

A learning opportunity from another driver

One of the driver recruiting ads we posted on Facebook received a comment this past weekend, late at night. Our first instinct was to take it down as I didn’t immediately recognize the commenter, but I eventually realized who it was from and thought it was better to keep it active. Unfortunately the post was lost to the Facebook ether, but my staff had a screenshot that I can share with you here:

I want to thank Timmy for providing me with a teachable moment for our current drivers, as well as anyone who may want to come drive with us. Here is the lesson for anyone who wants to be successful in the expedite business.

Mr. Lee did not want to run as a team truck. I was willing to accommodate him by running him in an older truck that we had at the time. The truck was safe and DOT compliant. You can see the DOT inspection report with Mr. Lee’s name (circled in red) on it here:

It is the driver’s responsibility to do a daily pre-trip assessment and report any issues to us. If Mr. Lee had any issues with the truck, he should have reported them and they would have been handled.

Our company and our drivers are the most successful in the industry. Our drivers accomplish this because of teamwork. Not just the team in the truck, but the team of our entire fleet. I’m going to be blogging more on this topic soon. We share information among all of our truck teams to keep them operating at top efficiency. Absent the teamwork, most drivers would fail miserably in this industry.

Insisting on running solo was this driver’s downfall. To the rest of you, learn from Mr. Lee’s refusal to cooperate, and you will learn where success comes from in the expedite industry.
