Congratulations to Tempus driver Mike R., who is our first straight truck driver to earn over $2,000 in his weekly settlement!
Mike R.’s big week has been a long time coming, and we’re sharing his pay statement with you at his request. Now before you say, “I earn that much every week!” or “I doubled that last week!” let me put that into perspective for you. Mike has a Class B CDL. If they aren’t in over-the-road trucking, Class B drivers are typically driving school buses, dump trucks, tourist buses, delivery trucks, etc. Working full time, they earn an average of $20,000-$40,000 per year, depending on what they’re driving. A school bus driver, for example, averages around $15/hour for part-time work.
Mike has been driving with us for the past 5 years, so he’s seen a lot of ups and downs. He read my last blog post about driver/company relations and called me directly with the desire to pass along what he’s learned.
Like any career, if you go into trucking, you can’t expect huge paychecks right off the bat.
It takes time to learn the system, learn how to operate efficiently, and build up trust with a company that will support you. Mike wanted to share his pay for the week to show newer drivers that hard work does pay off over time if you’re willing to learn and willing to succeed.
Congratulations Mike! You earned it!
